What is Kizuki Journaling?
Kizuki Journaling MAE Y method is a practical yet deeply introspective guide for anyone seeking to unlock their inner wisdom and navigate life with renewed awareness. The program integrates meditative journaling with structured prompts to help individuals organize their thoughts and emotions on paper.
A distinctive program devised by Mae Yoshikawa, it is known in Japan as her original style of kaku-meisou or “Writing Meditation.” First launched as an online offering in January 2021 amidst the global pandemic, this program has been received over 14,000 times* within the first three years since its inception. Its rapid spread is a testament not only to the profound shifts in self-awareness that it inspires, but the actionable shifts in behavior that it is designed to instigate.
This is not just a journaling technique—it's an invitation to greater consciousness, one kizuki at a time.

How does it differ from other journaling methods?
Traditional journaling often focuses on releasing emotions and alleviating stress by writing them down, but it can fall short in addressing the underlying causes of recurring stress. Without identifying concrete steps for change, the benefits may be fleeting, leaving daily life largely unaffected. Writing alone, while therapeutic, does not inherently lead to lasting transformation—it requires intentional follow-up action. This is where Kizuki Journaling MAE Y Method stands apart. By introducing a pivotal “third prompt” designed to shift perspective, preceded by a way-paving guided meditation to create distance from habitual thoughts and emotions, the method bridges introspection with transformation. It encourages participants to turn moments of clarity into meaningful behavioral change, starting here and now.
Unlike business-oriented journaling, which emphasizes measurable goals, emotional and personal journaling delves into intangible yet profound aspects of the human experience—such as emotions, beliefs, and values—that are often difficult to articulate. Kizuki Journaling MAE Y Method is intentionally designed to foster deeper awareness of oneself and one's life, combining emotional clarity with actionable insights.
